Cinema Seating: Individual Seats
Cinema seats are the classic choice for a home theatre setup. Each person has their own space, their own backrest and their own armrest. Available as single chairs or in fixed rows of two to six seats.
What you get with Delux Deco:
- Electric recline — smooth adjustment at the press of a button
- Italian full-grain leather in dozens of colours
- Built-in cup holders and USB ports in the arm console
- Optional: massage function, cooling and LED mood lighting
- 10-year frame warranty, 2-year motor warranty
A row of cinema seats does not just look the part — it gives your home theatre that genuine cinema atmosphere.
Cinema Sofas: The Luxury Alternative
Prefer to sit together? A cinema sofa combines the comfort of a recliner with the ease of shared seating. Ideal for couples, families or rooms with a different layout.
Popular configurations:
- Corner sofa with recline — perfect for L-shaped spaces
- Modular cinema sofa — build the exact configuration you need
- Sectional sofa with electric recline — wide-format comfort for the whole family
Like the seats, every cinema sofa is custom made in your chosen leather, colour and configuration.
Single Cinema Seats: Comfort for Every Room
No dedicated cinema room, but still want premium comfort? A single Delux Deco cinema seat fits into any living room and offers the same electric recline experience as our linked rows — as a standalone piece of furniture. At Delux Deco a single cinema seat is technically the same product as a premium electric recliner: same dual-motor drive, same Italian full-grain leather, same hardwood frame.
Accessories: The Finishing Touch
The right accessories complete your home cinema. A side table next to your seat, extra cup holders, or LED strips under your platform — small additions that make a real difference.
Available accessories:
- Side tables in matching leather or wood finish
- Freestanding cup holders
- LED strips for underlighting
- Wireless charging pads built into the arm console
How to Choose the Right Furniture
The choice comes down to four things: your room, your budget, how many people will use it, and whether you have a dedicated cinema room or want to integrate the furniture into an existing living space.
Quick reference:
| Situation | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Dedicated cinema room, 2-6 people | Cinema seats in a row |
| Living room with cinema corner | Cinema sofa or modular sofa |
| One person, smaller space | Recliner chair |
| Combined living and viewing space | Sectional sofa with recline |

Home Cinema Room Ideas
A home cinema room does not need to follow a single template. The right approach depends on how the room is used, who uses it, and what aesthetic you are working with. Here are some of the most effective approaches we see across different room types and budgets.
The single-row dedicated room. The most straightforward layout: one row of three to four cinema seats or a 3-seat cinema sofa, centred on a large screen or projection wall. Blackout blinds or shutters on all windows, acoustic panels on the side walls at the first reflection points, and a warm-toned LED bias light behind the screen. The simplicity of this layout means the seating becomes the visual focus, which is why leather colour and material choice matter so much.
The two-row tiered room. A raised platform at the rear accommodates a second row of seating. The front row is typically a cinema sofa; the rear row is individual cinema chairs elevated 20 to 25 cm. This layout suits rooms of 5 metres or more in depth and works particularly well in basements or converted garage spaces where the proportions allow for genuine cinema atmosphere.
The multipurpose living room. A modular cinema sofa in a corner or L-shape configuration, with a large TV rather than a projector screen. Blackout curtains rather than dedicated blackout shutters. This room functions as a family living space most of the time and a cinema room on film nights. The key to making it work is a sofa with genuine electric recline and the right viewing distance from the screen.
Mood lighting and atmosphere. LED strips beneath the seating platform, dimmable wall sconces, and warm-white bias lighting behind the screen create cinema atmosphere without specialist installation. Warm temperatures (2,700 to 3,000 K) are the correct choice — cool white light kills the mood immediately. Smart lighting control, even at the entry level, makes mode-switching effortless.
Acoustic panels as room design. Acoustic panels do not have to look like recording studio equipment. Fabric-wrapped panels in colours matched to the seating, or framed as large-format artwork, add character to the room while doing real acoustic work. A heavy rug under and in front of the seating area is the single most cost-effective acoustic improvement in most rooms.

Planning the Perfect Home Cinema Layout
Getting the layout right is the foundation of a good home cinema. The furniture matters, but placement determines whether the viewing experience is genuinely cinematic or merely comfortable.
Viewing distance and screen size
The distance between your seating position and the screen is the single most important measurement to get right before buying anything. For a 4K display, the recommended viewing distance is between 1.5 and 2.5 times the screen's diagonal measurement. A 65-inch television (approximately 165 cm diagonal) calls for a seating distance of roughly 2.5 to 4 metres. A 120-inch projection screen shifts that optimal range to 4 to 6 metres.
The practical consequence is straightforward: measure the available depth of the room first, determine the appropriate screen size from that measurement, and then choose furniture that fits comfortably in the remaining space.
Second rows and tiered seating
If the room allows for two rows, a raised platform of 20 to 30 centimetres for the rear row is the standard solution. This ensures rear viewers look over the heads of those in front without straining their necks. Allow a minimum of 1.2 metres of additional depth for the second row, including comfortable passage behind the seats.
With a single wide cinema sofa, the priority is centring the piece directly opposite the screen with equal clearance to both side walls. Symmetrical placement keeps audio reflections balanced.
Light control
Ambient light and cinema-quality contrast are incompatible. Blackout curtains or roller blinds are a basic requirement rather than an optional upgrade. For atmosphere during viewing, LED bias lighting mounted behind the screen reduces the harsh contrast between a bright display and a completely dark room.
Acoustics and upholstery
Hard surfaces reflect sound and create echo. Soft furnishings absorb it. The upholstery on your seating is doing acoustic work as well as providing comfort. Add a heavy-pile rug beneath the seating area to address low-frequency reflections from hard floors. For more detailed guidance, the design guide covers room-specific approaches.
Cinema Seats or Cinema Sofa: Which Is Right for You?
This is the question most home cinema owners arrive at eventually, and there is no universal answer. The right choice depends on how you use the space, who uses it with you, and how important a dedicated cinema atmosphere is compared to general flexibility.
The cinema sofa
A cinema sofa is the more versatile option for households that use the room for multiple purposes. A modular configuration adapts to the width of the room and can be rearranged over time. The aesthetic is closer to a living room than a commercial cinema, which suits spaces that double as a family room.
Cinema seats
Cinema seats give every viewer a defined, consistent position. Everyone sits at the correct screen height, armrests are personal rather than shared, and the experience is repeatable. Recliner-style cinema seats add motorised backrest and footrest adjustment, allowing precise positioning that a static sofa cannot replicate.
Single cinema seats as a middle option
Single cinema seats occupy useful middle ground. They are individually adjustable, take up less floor space than a full row of dedicated cinema seating, and suit rooms that serve more than one function.
Home Cinema Accessories
The right furniture forms the foundation, but a handful of well-chosen accessories make a tangible difference to how the room functions day to day.
Cup holders and side tables keep drinks and snacks within reach without interrupting a film. Footstools and ottomans add comfort for longer sessions when your seating lacks an integrated footrest. Blackout window treatments with a ceiling-mounted track system and motorisation darken the room at the press of a button. Acoustic wall panels in fabric or timber reduce echo and improve dialogue clarity. Storage and cable management units keep the space tidy across multiple devices.
